GS DOMES — Frequently Asked Questions

1. How much does an air dome cost?

The cost of an air-supported dome depends on its size, location, membrane materials, and required systems. Compared with conventional steel buildings, air domes can offer lower initial construction costs and faster installation. GS DOMES provides customized quotations covering membrane structures, inflation systems, insulation, lighting, HVAC, and other project requirements.

2. Can air domes withstand strong winds and heavy snow?

Yes. GS DOMES air-supported structures can be engineered for wind speeds of 100–150 km/h and snow loads typically ranging from 0.3 to 1.5 kN/m², depending on the design. Reinforced membrane materials, steel cable systems, and automatic pressure controls help maintain structural stability. Every project is designed according to local climate conditions and applicable building standards.

3. How does an air dome stay inflated, and what happens during a power outage?

An air dome uses continuous, controlled internal air pressure to support its membrane structure without internal columns. GS DOMES integrates intelligent pressure monitoring, inflation equipment, and backup power systems. If the main power supply fails, a properly configured emergency system can maintain air pressure and support safe operation.

4. What is the lifespan of an air-supported dome?

A properly designed and maintained air dome can have a service life of approximately 20–30 years. Actual lifespan depends on membrane quality, UV exposure, climate conditions, and regular maintenance. GS DOMES uses durable PVC/PVDF membrane materials designed for long-term outdoor applications. Individual components may require replacement during the structure’s service life.

5. How long does it take to install an air dome?

Air-supported domes can be installed significantly faster than many conventional buildings. Once the foundation is ready, membrane installation and system commissioning may take several days to a few weeks, depending on project size and complexity. GS DOMES provides installation guidance and technical support for overseas projects.
